banah | 2021 Fandom In Review

I saw a few people discussing doing one of these kind of posts on EAD and I thought it was a neat idea.

I'm still most active at banahbanah and banahdraws
I haven't really been into any new fandoms this year, which is disappointing but not particularly surprising given the circumstances. I got big into FF7R when it came out, so I've been kicking around there fanart wise as well as still hanging out in FFXV and a bunch of nostalgia fandoms. The longest fics I've read have been for fandoms I'm not even in and in one notable instance for a canon I've never consumed more than an episode of. (That would be Freeport by Maldoror-Chant for Gundam Wing. Fantastic worldbuilding.)
I've also *lost* interest in the MCU in a big way, which feels strange after thirteen years of being low-key obsessed with it. I adored WandaVision and Black Widow, liked parts of TFATWS, was meh-to-moderately positive on Loki, and loathed No Way Home. Haven't worked up enough give-a-damn to watch What If?, Eternals, or Hawkeye. Listing it all out like that ... mmmmaybe there was too much of a good thing last year. Goddamn.
Videogames wise I finally played Breath of the Wild which was FANTASTIC. Life interrupted my playthrough of Mass Effect Legendary Edition but I do intend to pick that up again soon.
In late 2020/early 2021 I joined a neat DWRP game called databurst - had a lot of fun there initially but ended up having to drop due to some weirdness and then the entire game ended up tanking a few months later. Most excitingly I brought an OC to DWRP for the first time, my character Artemis. He was a blast and it's touched off a desire to explore my own characters and stories again. Met some cool people there also!
After leaving Databurst I stepped back from RP and dove into art in a big way beginning back around July. I think I've made some major technical progress. Art roundup at the end of the post!

Hey...I know chocolate box assignments haven't gone out but i was checking out people's requests and letters to try to get a jump start on ideas, and when I clicked yours, it was listed as protected. Not sure if you were doing that deliberately until assignments are out but thought I'd say something in case it was unintended!

It was locked because it's unfortunately still in progress on the two pairings I'm requesting for the first time, but I've gone ahead and unlocked it in case I match on something else before I can finish them.
